Summer Camp Fun!!!!

Summer Camp Fun!

Lincoln and Taylor County youth recently returned from what may be the most memorable experience of their lives … 4-H Summer Camp.  33 campers, 8 camp counselors, and 5 adults braved the wilderness of  the Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center (https://fyi.extension.wisc.edu/uphamwoods/) in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin from June 29-July 2.  Many fun and exciting educational experiences made this year’s 4-H summer camp this truly an event to remember.

The theme for camp this year was “Disney” and the theme was used throughout the camp activities.  The older youth counselors had fun with the theme when they planned, organized and facilitated nearly all of the activity and art sessions at the camp.  Campers participated in activities including canoeing, day and night hikes, paddling a voyager canoe and a barge, field games, team challenges, swimming, wildlife and nature exploration, archery, and campfire snacks, skits and fun.

The activities at 4-H camp are intended to be educational for both the campers and the camp counselors.  They give the participants a taste of the wide variety of activities available in the 4-H program and they give older youth an opportunity to develop leadership skills.  4-H is open to all youth in grade Kindergarten through 13 (one year after high school graduation), regardless of where you live.

4-H is open to ALL youth in Lincoln County. The 4-H program provides equal opportunities in programming.  Requests for reasonable accommodations for disabilities or limitations may be made prior to the date of the program or activity for which it is needed.  For a more information please contact the UW-Extension Office at 715-539-1072.
