Opportunity for Youth to Learn About Running a Business

Are you interested in running your own business?  Did you ever want to sell products you’ve made?  Then the Lincoln County Youth Market Place is for you!

 What is the Youth Market Place?

The Lincoln County Youth Market Place is a Lincoln County program sponsored by the Lincoln County 4-H where youth learn about entrepreneurship and the ins and out of running their own business.  These young entrepreneurs take their skills and interests and create items that they then market and sell during the Lincoln County Fair at the Youth Market Place located in the Steckling Building.

 Who can be a member of the Youth Market Place?

Any Lincoln County youth in fifth through twelfth grade can be a member of the Lincoln County Youth Market Place. 

 What is required of a Youth Market Place member?

  • Create products to sell at the Market Place during the fair
  • Create advertising/displays in order to sell those products
  • Come up with pricing/cost analysis so that the member makes a profit off the sales
  • Work at the Market Place booth during the fair

What will the Youth Market Place member learn?

  • The basics of creating and selling products for a profit.
  • How to work a cash register.
  • Customer service techniques.
  • How to work with others.
  • Basic promotional/advertising techniques.
